Music

Music

Music in Horror films should be capable of building tension and fear within the film. This can be done in multiple ways including creating fear when the film itself fails to do so, playing music along with something scary on screen or to make something innocent and peaceful seem more sinister. The music in films tends to play before or cause a "jump scare" this can be due to something happening on screen or because of the music drastically escalating in volume. At other times the music may be slow and quiet giving the music an eerie quality which may lull the audience in to false sense of security.
Besides the music you would expect to find on the soundtrack of an horror film, there are some films where Rock and Metal music fit well with the horror aspect and the storyline.

The Omen

Ave Satani

A Nightmare On Elm Street

1, 2, Freddie's Coming For You
