Colours
To show our element of horror, we should use colours such as reds, oranges and blues. Blues are commonly used in horror film to show coldness and dis-equlibrium. However the use of reds and oranges gives a sense of foreboading for the fire that happens later on in the film.
Also over exposure will in the running scene show false reality to scare the audience slightly. The warm colours lead them into a false sense of security making it easier to initiate a shock. We could match these colours to ones in the title sequence to show continuity in editing.
Red: Red connotes blood and gore, an element common in the genre however at some points it make look too warm and not fit with the mood. This supports the horror genre. we could use this in Chloe's house to show warmness but also danger. This could be achieved by putting a piece of red plastic over our main light source.
Blue: Blues give a sense of isolation and unhappiness. This will make Jessica seem on her own despite having chloe next to her. This supports the horror genre. we could use this in Chloe's room to connote coldness and dis-equlibrium. This could achieve this by putting blue plastic over a light and miss out a fill light.
