Age Limit
What is ours?
In our opinion we believe our film should be rated at 15. This is for several reasons such as it will contain scenes of strong violence as well as strong language which some viewers may find offensive. We find 15 an appropriate age as although violence will run through the film there wont be much content of gore and guts something not permitted in a 15 but an 18. Our film may contain flashing images that viewers could find disturbing and the content of the film may be unsuitable for people under the age of 15. The film will not contain any sexual scenes and have repetitive offensive language throughout, however it could contain uses of strong language in parts. The film will have scenes of horror and slight gore.
What might you see in a 15 rated film?
In a 15 rated film you could see things such as strong violence and frequent strong language to drugs and sexual nudity. Brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence may also be shown in a 15 rated film as well as discriminatory language or behaviour. Other things you may find in a 15 works film could be
- portrayals of sexual activity
- strong verbal references to sex
- drug taking
- strong language (e.g. f*** or uses of strongest terms such as c*** depending on the manner in which they are used, however continued or aggressive use will not normally be passed as a 15)
No theme is prohibited , provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds.
What about horror works?
At 15 there can be strong threat and horror as long as there is no sustained focus on sadistic or sexualised threats.
What does the 15 symbol mean?
The 15 symbol means no-one under the age of 15 is permitted to watch the film in the cinema or rent or buy the dvd. 15 rated works are not suitable for children under the age of 15 years.
